I've had pocket edition since launch and don't get me wrong, it's come on in great leaps & bounds over the years. Quite the opposite, we're all being downgraded to match the mobile experience that's been out for some time now. It is not something that's come about from the new console version being rushed. these are all the exact same issues that the pocket edition has, and has had for some time now.

The original java version (pc / mac) is still planned to be kept updated, but support for xbox one edition updates (and all other 'edition' editions) is officially being dropped.Īll the gameplay issues observed in 'better together' - the crude, floaty player & mob movement, the wonky geometry perspective, dull textures & lighting, missing water animation, lack of block update frequency, barely functional redstone, atrociously clumsy user interface design.
What they've done here is literally ported the mobile version over to the xbox, and we're now all lumped with a clone of pocket edition to serve as the only supported version available for console players going forwards.
I've seen suggestions that 'better together' was rushed out in a hurry in time for the launch of xbox one x, but sadly that isn't the core issue behind what's going on. Just wanted to clear this up for anyone bewildered as to why this new version gives such a poor quality experience.
